Screenwriting: Progress Update 26/4/22

I am Most Likely Behind but, I have done the RoadMap (Re-written with the advice I have gotten in the first week of break),
this second week I am to do the bullet point treatment for the first three episodes.

I decided to write the episode while only referencing my previous Road Map as the story was not working with the pacing I have been set with, Thus the re-write from start, in which I was able to get better pacing while keeping elements of what I originally versioned.

Outer-want (external objective):

Wants to expand their delivery service further throughout the whole city rather than the local range they currently operate

Kora -

Want to overcome her fear of traveling outside of the docks, she wants to be able to get to a point where she can function on her own without burdening others

Holli - Needs to recognize and accept her flaws, and that she doesn’t need to be perfect to please her parents, she needs to let go of trying to make a select few happy with her progress and focus on her own personal growth.

Daize -

Needs to put effort into what he needs to do ‘his job’ rather than what he wants to do ‘ his hobbies. He needs to focus on the task at hand rather than thinking of an endless amount of things he could be doing.

Inner conflict/dilemma:

Vern -

In the process of doing what he thinks is right to keep his ‘family’ well paid and fed and making the shop successful , he is really only harming himself and those around him. He needs to loosen up on his own actions and trust those around him to be able to look after themselves and the shop.

Kora -

Kora, while she wants to go exploring again, is too scared because of her trauma, staying inside and close to the shop is only making her depression worse.

Holli fears any form of failure or flaw due to her upbringing, she has very strict parents and teachers that hold her up to a high standard, she fears disappointing them.

Daize -

Needs to Focus on the here and now but is too concerned for the future and wasting his life, desperately trying as many things as he can, searching for a passion and purpose

Season One:

Equilibrium/disequilibrium (disruption of the status quo): (Holli and Vern Episode)

Holli gets hired by Vern to work in their shop, and as a resident of their living quarters.
When she gets there she starts to change things up, disrupting the natural flow of the store to how it already ran.

Inciting incident (external obstacle or antagonist) (A spur in the story): (Vern Episode)

The Rival Company is introduced, and they snab the attention of all the customers with a new deal

1TP/How does my Protagonist react to this inciting incident?:

Vern is quite furious at their rivals attracting more customers with a new deal, he rallies the troops and set out on a ridiculous plan for advertising against their competitors

Further complications:

The plan that Vern comes up with against the rival company causes them to neglect their shop duties and the shop falls into disrepair.

Pinch Point 1 (Reminder of the Threat): (Kora Episode)

Kora has been going over their paperwork looking through their commissions and brings up to the group that they are declining fast, with little customers they might have to close the shop soon if they can’t bring up their reputation.

Mid-point (The halfway point, or mark in change in location/circumstance/character status):

The group pushes for advertising and expanding their range of operation to the whole city rather than the district they live in, in hopes that it will bring in more customers.

Because of the camping they start getting a few requests for further out in other districts.

Pinch Point 2 (Reminder of the Threats): (Daize and Kora episode)

To upkeep their new range and to keep customers flowing they need to send out more packages, this means Kora needs to deliver from outside the shop much to her fear. Daize volunteers to help her get out and deliver within the district, to push off his own deliveries in turn helping Kora.

“Dark Night of the Soul”/Lowest Point/Crisis:

During their Delivery Kora has managed to push herself further but has a mental breakdown, and has to directly confront her fears, Daize who was pushy to get this done fast for more free time, has to stop his fast pursuits that are stressing Kora and help her through finishing the delivery.

2TP/How does my Protagonist react to this crisis?: (Vern Episode)

Vern is very proud of Kora’s progress and they set up for their proper shop plan, of having Holli, Daize and Vern take care of the outer districts while Kora delivers close to the docks to start getting out more.

Confrontation:

Rival Company hears of their success and declares a competition between their two businesses to decide who should be the primary delivery service, while the loser had to shut down.

Climax: (The Payload)

The day of the competition arrives, each company must deliver a payload to a certain location, one a few districts away. Holli is staying behind as that's a bit too much for her putting them at 3 vs 4 in this competition.

They race off taking different routes (Vern gets stuck inside during the start), during their race someone tries to sabotage the protagonists in their delivery by stealing the payload, Vern escapes and stops the payload from being taken away and the other two catch up to continue the race as vern chases away the other dragon. He meets up with them close to the end and
They only just win against their competition.

Character Arc (what do they sacrifice or concede to “win”?):

Vern -

Vern has to realize that in his non stop pursuits he can hurt others, he will learn how to manage this pursuit while making sure his friends are not at risk for their mental and physical health

Kora -

Confronting her Trauma to start making progress against her fears

Daize -

Daize has to realize that he has to focus on what he needs to do rather than rushing so he can do his own interests, he learns that he needs to focus on a good job and see it through.

Holli -

Holli has to accept that not everything will be her way in this new environment and that she will have to work with others.

Denouement/Resolution (or False Resolution):

The end will establish a new status quo similar to the start but that the shop is more spruced up and with a wider range of where they deliver.

Possible twist (Optional):  No
